How to Download and Install Fonts in Windows OS

Download and Install Fonts – Fonts has a lot of impact on designs, it is best to use cool fonts while designing. Sometimes fonts can be the only thing that makes our design exceptional.

At some point you`ll feel you need to experiment with new fonts, and you need something a little more exciting for your upcoming PowerPoint presentation, or graphic design project with PhotoShop or other cool design software.


Follow any method and steps below to install fonts on your windows operating system

How to download and install fonts through Google fonts website to your System

Step 1: Use a browser to visit the (Google Fonts) website. Search or Find a font you`d like to try at the top field provided for search. You can preview the font by clicking the font name.

Step 2: Once you have found a cool font, click the plus sign at the botton right of your screen and then click on Download Now.

Step 3: Save the .zip file to your PC. Unzip the folder. The font files (which will typically be in the .ttf, .otf, or .fon format) will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the unzipped font file and then Click Install. Windows will take care of the rest. The font will now be available for use in all application programs in your system such as PowerPoint, Microsoft word, etc.


How to download and install fonts using Microsoft Store

Another easy method to install fonts in you windows operating system is to go through the Microsoft Store, and follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to your Windows 10 Settings (click on start menu and then settings), click on Personalization, and then click on the Fonts tab.

At the top of your settings dialog, click in the link “Get more fonts in the Microsoft Store”. A list of fonts appears where you can scroll and download your choice.

Step 2: After download is complete, the font may or may not be packed into a zip file. But if it`s zipped, right-click on the file, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions to put the font into a folder of your choice.

Step 3: After extracting the file, open the folder and right-click on the file, then select Install and you are set to use that font in any software, anytime!


Steps to Reset font list to default

There are some case where you may want to do this, especially if some fonts are causing problems or you mistakenly deleted important font(s), you can always reset your fonts to the Windows defaults.

Remember, resetting is not something you want to always do, find a solution first, if there`s no other way to resolve fonts issues, then you can proceed to reset, using the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Control Panel (click on your windows 10 start menu and type “control panel” to search for it) from the result list, click the corresponding result.

Step 2: Select Appearance and Personalization and then select Fonts.

Step 3: Select the Font settings from the left-hand menu.

Step 4: Select “Restore default font settings”. Windows 10 will then restore your font selection to its font default options so quick.

Steps to Delete a font from font lists

Step 1: Open the Control Panel in the Windows 10 (see step 1 above on how to find control panel).

Step 2: Select the Appearance and Personalization and then Fonts option.

Step 3: Search for a specific font or scroll through list, when you`ve found the font you need, right-click on it and select Delete from the pop-up menu.

Step 4: You will be asked to confirm, Select Yes, and the font will automatically be deleted from your device/system.
