We all know the basics, which are: drink plenty of water, wash your face, get enough sleep, but what about everything in-between? Luckily, we have listed below the 1o Skincare Tips for the Best Skin of Your Life.
What is a Skin
Skin is one of the largest organs of the body, it’s the body’s outer covering, which protects against heat and light, infection, and injury. Therefore, caring for your skin can directly affect your overall health.
Here are things that can play a role in your overall skin health:
- Exposure to UV radiation in tanning beds
- Exposure to chemical toxins in tobacco
- Unprotected sun exposure for long periods of time
- Not getting enough rest, fluids, or nutrition
10 Skincare Tips for the Best Skin of Your Life
1. Using the correct cleanser for your skin type.
For acne-prone or oily skin, use a salicylic gel or benzoyl peroxide wash. While for dry matured skin, use either a moisturizing glycolic or a milky cleanser. Also, for skin with brown spots or melasma, use a brightening wash, such as an alpha hydroxy acid cleanser.”
2. Don’t Use too Many Product
Layering on multiple skin care products all at once can be harsh on the skin, resulting in more breakouts and clogged pores.
3. Moisturize both day and night.
The best times to moisturize are right after you get out of the shower and before you go to bed. Avoid lotions with heavy fragrances and make sure you find a moisturizer with zero irritation gentle enough for everyday use.
4. Don’t touch your face.
Figuring out how to avoid touching your face is very important. Touching your face doesn’t just spread bacteria and cause breakouts, it leads to an increase in wrinkles, scarring, and even flu or other viruses.
5. Hydrate inside and out.
A lack of water means less radiance and more sag, so we suggest you choose products that have hydrating formulas. And, of course, drink plenty of water every day.
6. Avoid direct heat exposure.
Avoiding direct heat exposure isn’t just watching out for the sun, getting too close to fireplaces and heaters can also wreak havoc on your skin. It causes inflammation and collagen breakdown, which is why we recommend staying at least ten feet away. So next time you’re roasting anything over an open fire, we advise you to take a step back.
7. Exfoliate a couple of times per week.
As humans, we lose 50 million skin cells a day, and without a little extra nudge, they may hang around which leaves the skin looking sullen. To fight this, you need t buy a product that is pH neutral so it doesn’t dry as it exfoliates. Not just your face, the skin on your body needs exfoliation, too.
8. Vitamins should go on your skin, too.
Balanced diets are very important, but there’s more than one way to give your skin vitamins. Also, there are topical antioxidants, which are serums and creams that contain ingredients that nourish the skin.
These antioxidants can really help to repair the skin from sun damage. If you don’t know how to use them, the best time to apply them is right after cleansing so that your skin can soak them in, or they can be layered under your sunscreen for added protection.
10: Clean your makeup brushes regularly.
To fight infection and clogged pores, we recommend washing concealer and foundation brushes once a week. For brushes you use around your eyes, we recommend you wash it twice per month, and for any other brushes, once a month is fine.
